WASHINGTON BOUND - MU Law is heading to Washington DC to speak with Congressional staff about Comprehensive Immigration Reform, specifically for the business community. We have scheduled meetings with both the Senate and House’s immigration leadership teams.

H-1B LOTTERY - As expected, the USCIS received more than the H-1B cap of 85,000 petitions on the very first day of processing. USCIS will use a lottery to select which petitions will be allowed to seek H-1B status this year. It is expected that the USCIS will return about 40,000 timely-filed petitions.

H-1B CAP - The USCIS has announced that the H-1B cap is expected to be reached on the first day. Any H-1B cap–subject petition that is filed between April 1 and April 5 is treated as a first-day filing. In accord with this information, MU Law strongly urges all clients to be prepared to file their H-1B cap-subject petitions immediately.
